Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl
If you, by any chance, followed my blog from the beginning, you should have at least a faint idea why I like anime. For the cute girls! That's why, when looking for a new show to watch, the cuteness of the cover art can be a decisive factor if I should watch it or not.
But before we see the cover art, I'd like you to know how I found out about this anime. For some reason that I've forgotten, this blog is in my reading list. I don't remember how I found out about this blog, but it has some high quality photos of anime figures with beautiful backgrounds. And then I stumbled upon this...
Out of morbid curiousity, I googled for "Erio" and then I discovered Erio Touwa and, therefore, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. So here I am, at Denpa Onna's MAL page. After being fascinated by the cover art, the next thing I do is watching the trailer.
The thing that really draws me in is the music. I love this kind of background music, it's like having a dream (somehow it reminds my of Kara no Kyoukai's BGM). The next thing I noticed is the peculiar style of animation. That's when I realized that this anime was made by Shaft! Holy shit, that's awesome!
When I start watching it, I immediately thought, "This is my kind of anime!". It is cute, very cute. I mean, you need to think really hard to beat the cuteness of walking futon roll. It is also quite funny, in a way similar to Shaft's Bakemonogatari. If you enjoy the dialogues in Monogatari, you'll also enjoy them in Denpa Onna.

Next, about the story. I really love how it approach the main issue: "Does alien exist?" At first, we approach the question with skepticism. And then, at one point, it is temporarily resolved. But after that point, we're slowly getting more and more curious about that question again... until we see the ending. I don't know if the author alone came up with all of this, cause it's really awesome! This anime managed to make me believe once more that aliens might exist, and that's not an easy feat.

This is one of the most fulfilling anime I've watched in my entire career as an otaku. It is so awesome that I doubt I will find anything like this again anytime soon. And I really love it that I deliberately avoid any potentially negative review about it on the net (even after watching it). Nevertheless, I still do read a review from this one particular site. Not because it has the highest quality reviews, but rather because it shares a lot of my opinion. And, just what I expected, this site gives Denpa Onna 5/5 rating. It even says, "In a perfect world more anime shows would be like Denpa Onna." ^_^

Recently, I lost my faith on THEM Anime because of their review on Uta~Kata. I know that the anime has many problems but ... Ichika is just one of the best character I've ever seen in a Mahou Shoujo or any other anime. She's just too real. I think I've fallen in love with her. Not sexually, but ... she's just an amazing human being. Ah, I don't know how to describe this feeling.
