Why I Decided to Purchase Deemo
"Never left without saying goodbye" |
Have you ever installed a cracked game, uninstalled it, then installed it again, but this time you purchase it properly? Because I just dit it.
Alright, purchasing a game might not be a very strange thing for you people in rich countries, but we don’t do it so often here. I mean, why pay when you can get it for free? Also, owning a credit card is not the norm here.
Anyway, the last time I spent my money in an app was when I’m running out of Whatsapp service time. And shortly after that, Whatsapp gives away free lifetime service for everyone. Yeah, fuck.
But I was forced to do that. I mean, if I didn’t make the purchase, I can’t use Whatsapp anymore unless I get a new number. So now, why did I decide to buy something that I don’t have to?
1. Because the Gameplay Is Fucked Up If You Crack this game
Playing this game is supposed to be like growing a tree. You start with a very small sprout, then it grows slowly, a centimeter by a centimeter, and then it start getting more leaves, and so on .... But that’s not the case with the cracked (unlocked) version of the game. The first time you get your tree, it’s already really big, but it has no leaves. The next day, suddenly a branch is full of leaves, but no leave on the other branches. It’s lunatic. (This is just an analogy by the way. When I said 'leaves' what I really meant was 'songs')
2. Because I Love this Game So Much
You should've already known that this is an old game. It came around in 2013, but I never really got any chance to try it ... until last year, when I play this game on my friend's tab. I didn't really have much expectation, as I've played some rythm games, and this one shouldn't be much different.
But when I put my earphones on and played the first song, "Dream", HOLY SHIT that was a really intense eargasm! Never in my life have I experienced something like this from a mobile game. And then I saw the cutscene, where that cute little girl was falling from the sky. Man, you know I'm a sucker for this!
I still have that feeling of amazement till this day. This game is just so beautifully designed. And that makes me want to ...
3. Support the Devs
Yeah, that old "If you like this, please support the devs by buying the original" notice that no one gives a shit to. Apparently, I've fallen for this one. I've always appreciated games with great mechanics and art. But not until I actually make my own shit game in Scratch, that I really appreciate the work of the people behind these games.

FYI, actually this is not the first game I ever buy. This is the second. The first one was a platform game on my old Nokia (no, it’s not a Windows Phone, it’s not even Symbian) that I bought for Rp5.000 (about 50 cents in USD). That was very very long time ago, I don't even remember what the title was. But I enjoyed the game very much. (I don't know how relevant this is to the current post, but I just feel like putting it here.)
